Associate

Ella is an Associate in Todd and Walker’s litigation team. She is a criminal defence specialist.

Before joining the firm, Ella spent several years working as a Crown Prosecutor in Tauranga. In her time as both a prosecutor and defence counsel, Ella has conducted over 50 jury trials in the High Court and District Court.

Ella’s trial experience ranges from charges of murder, manslaughter, serious drug offending, serious violence and sexual violence, to dishonesty and driving offending.  She has also appeared on a broad range of appellate matters including appeals on conviction, sentencing and bail.

In addition to her criminal defence work, Ella routinely represents clients on civil litigation and employment matters.

Ella graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Politics.

Ella prides herself on finding pragmatic solutions to people’s legal problems and enjoys being able to use her skills as an experienced advocate to represent clients in Court when necessary.
