Is your business ready? From 24 July 2021, employees will be entitled to ten days of sick leave per year after six months continuously working with their employer.
The employee will qualify for the increase if in the last six months they have worked for an average of 10 hours per week, and at least one hour in every week, or 40 hours in every month. The maximum amount of unused sick leave that an employee can be entitled to will remain 20 days. We encourage employers to check sick leave entitlement dates for new employees to ensure compliance with the Holidays (Increasing Sick Leave) Amendment Bill.
