Penny specialises in Family Law including Relationship Property. She has a wealth of expertise in family matters including Separation and Contracting Out Agreements; Property Sharing Agreements; Care of Children Act matters including all aspects of parenting, care, contact and guardianship; family violence, including with and without notice Court Applications; paternity matters; Oranga Tamariki proceedings and Adoption. Penny makes regular Family Court appearances and has a strong interest and experience in Protection of Personal and Property Rights matters.
Born and raised in South Island farming country, Penny graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in 2006, before commencing her legal career at a large Invercargill law firm. Here she gained invaluable experience in property law and asset planning and management, which has formed a solid grounding for her legal expertise, especially relationship property matters. Penny has also spent time working overseas in the UK where she held roles at Health Service Ombudsmen and for a mid-tier London law firm. Penny brought her wealth of experience to Todd & Walker Law in 2019, she was attracted by the firm’s good reputation and work culture.
Penny says she finds working on family law matters extremely rewarding. She works hard to take a pragmatic approach to her work and to think outside the box to bring the best result for all involved as quickly and as stress free as possible.
When not in work Penny can be found spending her time with her family and enjoys getting outdoors and keeping active.
